What is a Chiropractor? |
There are many Chiropractic services in Blackpool and the Fylde. The following is an introduction to Chiropractic Services.A Chiropractor is a primary health-care professional, so you do not always need to be referred to them by your doctor. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose your problem and will refer you to another health-care practitioner if necessary. Chiropractors care for problems with joints, bones and muscles, and the adverse effects they have on the central nervous system. Working on all the joints of the body, concentrating predominantly on the spinal column, they use their hands to make often gentle, specific adjustments or manipulations to improve the efficiency of the nervous system and release the body's normal healing ability. Chiropractic does not engage the use of any drugs or surgery. The efficiency of chiropractic treatment is supported by research as well as by a range of UK government and medical organisations. Chiropractic may be available to patients under the terms of the NHS, but this will depend on the circumstances within a specific NHS Primary Care Trust. Otherwise patients see chiropractors in a personal capacity either through self-referral or as a result of a referral from their general practitioner, other doctor or health professional. |
